Hola! My name is Jan Williams and I’ve long admired the work of Amnesty International.

So last September,  I decided to take my involvement with Amnesty to the next level  - about 2,430 m above sea level in fact!

I signed up to be part of a group of Human Rights Defenders who will Walk the Inca Trail in Peru - which culminates in a visit to the high altitude ruins of Machu Picchu -  on behalf of Amnesty International this August  - now just over a month away!  I am so close to my required minimum fundraising target - so another raffle and a cake stall should get me across the line!

Aside from the amazing experience of travelling to Peru (tick one off the bucket list!) -  I will also meet local Amnesty staff, Human Rights Defenders and community leaders to discuss the real human rights situation in South America and the region.

The funds raised will help Amnesty International fight injustice and defend the human rights of men, women and children around the world.

How your donations will help me help Amnesty International (Australia)

$50 - can help investigate the cases of prisoners jailed simply for their beliefs, and protect those at imminent risk of torture, ill-treatment or execution.

$100 - can help collect testimonies from survivors and families affected by human rights violations.

$250 - can help organise public events for urgent human rights issues and bring them to the attention of national and international media.

$500 - can help fund research missions to areas of conflict and crisis and launch vital campaigns.
